EVA KARABUDAK
living canvas
There are so many instances in life that leave us wishing we could bottle a moment and live in that feeling forever. I sometimes wonder if our urge to carry our phones with us everywhere is linked to that notion, needing to have our camera ready at all times. That’s a whole other discussion though, and Eva Karabudak can do you one better.
Karabudak has become known internationally for her stunning tattoos, and for good reason. They truly are art with a capital A, and for all you doubters out there, just think of trying to paint in miniature *with needles* on a moving, breathing host. Not to mention the trust and commitment her clients hand over in exchange for these beautiful paintings.
Whether you want to carry a Klimt masterpiece with you (above) for the rest of your life or would prefer something of the artist’s own creation, Eva can do it. I’m struck by her broad talent, doing everything from line work to full micro realism.
Born in Turkey, Karabudak now lives in Brooklyn, NY where she runs two tattoo studios. Eva’s bio describes the beauty and significance of her work better than I could: “Eva’s talent and style transcend traditional tattooing and is more evocative of fine art. Her expertise is internationally acclaimed, pushing public opinion of the tattoo industry forward by presenting works that exemplify refined beauty, elegance, and sophistication.”
There are so many reasons people choose to be adorned in this way, and while I’m still trying to figure out exactly what and where I’d choose, I know for a fact that I’ll be joining the waitlist for Eva when I finally pin it down. It should come as no surprise that her tattoos are sought after by many celebrities (you can find Eva’s work on Sam Smith and Joe Jonas to name a few).
