Frances Palmer’s work looks as if it came right off of a table in Antwerp or was just dug up in Crete. That said, the pieces each exude a modernity that feels new and different. An Art Historian and Printmaker by training, the Palmer creates earthenware that has me coveting each new piece I discover.
I’m realizing as I write this that it’s beyond obvious through my recent artists that I am yearning for color to return outside, and might have a bit of a focus on florals and still lives as a result. Lucky for me, there is endless inspiration in that world, and Frances is an incredible gardener. Many of the flowers seen in photos of her ceramics were grown in Palmer’s garden, and the artist creates stunning arrangements to photograph the pieces in her home studio. The image below is an example of Palmer’s aesthetic prowess and was offered in a signed edition of 10 from KRB. I don’t know about you but I’m drooling over here. I want the photo, the flowers, and those insane marbleized vases.
