I first saw Heather Lancaster’s work in person about eight years ago, and I have not stopped thinking of them. The first thing you need to know is that they’re BIG. The works I saw were taller than my 5’ 3” frame and completely enveloped me. Second is that Heather is working with graphite (forgiving), charcoal (slightly forgiving), and India inks (not going anywhere). All of this to say that Lancaster is creating very large pieces of very detailed artwork that leave little room for error. Ok let’s look.
