If I’m being honest I have a love/hate with LEGO. It’s really about 90% love, but stepping on them at least once a day isn’t helping their cause. Also, I grew up enjoying LEGO as the unstructured, creative play toy they once were (and sometimes still can be) and feel a bit heartbroken when my son is afraid to let his friends touch his LEGO Millennium Falcon because they might inadvertently knock a piece off and he doesn’t have the instructions anymore.
That said, my love remains because the drawer full of loose LEGOs in our house has led to incredible creations and I always look forward to my children walking me through their latest invention.
The work of German artist Jan Vormann is sure to remind us of the wonder and creativity that LEGO can bring, and reminds us that it isn’t just children who can find wonder from the toy. Vormann’s series, “Dispatchwork” is so innovative that you can’t help but smile if you’re lucky enough to come across his creations in the wild.
