The confidence and pride in the eyes of Jules Arthur’s subjects is what first drew me in. Each painting, sculpture, or assemblage “reveal personal moments of pride and introspection, of struggle and triumph.” Arthur pays special attention to the faces of his muses, each exquisitely detailed. Meanwhile, some pieces (like Joe Lewis, below) feature looser brushstrokes building out the body and other features, drawing you back to that mesmerizing face.
